This year’s “Hell On Wheels” vintage MX rally was one hell of a good time. As the hot early summer sun started its way across the sky, the bikes started pouring in. We grabbed our camera’s, an ice cold beer, and held on for dear life. Thanks to Deus Ex Machina for sheltering me from the heat and good times as well as Dimitri Coste for providing laughs throughout. Enjoy.

Bell Helmets and Roland Sands Give One Lucky Recipient An Amazing Ride

Ron Mercurio, a 41-year-old former Navy SEAL turned small-business owner, sent in his entry that was selected from thousands of stories of why they should get the dream bike makeover of a lifetime. Mercurio was the winner of Bell Helmets and Roland Sands’ ‘Bell Star Treatment’ contest which gave the winner a trip to the Roland Sands Design (RSD) headquarters in Los Angeles where he collaborated with Roland Sands himself on a customization plan for Ron’s 1987 Harley Davidson FXLR.

The results were stunning and we were there to capture the moment Ron got on his newly customized ride. Enjoy.

Reader’s Rides: January

Our first installment of “Reader’s Rides” comes all the way from Portugal! When we were sent this tricked out Guzzi we just couldn’t resist asking for more photos and info on the mods. The reader mentioned in November that he was inspired by our Triumph T100c dirt tracker and just finished this great looking V7 build.

Here are some of the mods…

- new headlight and taillight

- new exhausts

- added a motogadget mini

- new blinkers

- removed a bunch of excess weight on the bike. I mean a BUNCH of weight!

- new Continental tires

- removed fenders and added a single aluminum one on the back

- new handlebar and grips and rubbers

- new paint scheme / vintage logos

- new mirror

- vintage engine covers

- replaced the Café seat

- added heat wrap

Our reader of the month says he wanted a hybrid between a scrambler and a tracker on a Guzzi, something we don’t see often. This bike is wicked to drive! Yeah, it came a long way from the yellowish-greenship-Tupperware-like color days…!

Bonhams 2013 Las Vegas Motorcycle Auctions

Well here we are again. A year later and still having regrets of bikes not purchased at last year’s Bonham’s auctions. This year wasn’t to disappoint other than the fact that RM Auctions weren’t there to saturate the market place and lower prices like last year. But hell, where else are you going to find this many vintage motorcycles in one room up for sale in the states? Along with amazing buys came the usual, annoying ballroom lighting mixed with flourecents, pompass European buyers peacocking around the room while the auctions were going on, a lack of affordable eats, and of course,…. the worst carpets this photographer has ever had to deal with. That being said I got to meet up with a ton of great like-minded friends and bloggers whom I only run into these days at events.

The highlights of the auction block this year for me was the cover story on this year’s Bonham’s guide, a 1939 BMW RS 255 Kompressor fetching $480,000 after auction’s closing as well as one of only four known Steve Mcqueen original Husqvarna 400 cross’s. So sit back and enjoy the photos. There was a lot to take in with over 200 motorcycles passing the block.

Ray Gordon and Comune Throttled II Party

You may remember our piece last year on Portland based photographer, Ray Gordon. Ray is known for his eccentric take on motocycle culture with large explosions, jumping cars, and beautiful young women. So why would it be a surprise that the launch of his second installment of a body of work called, “Throttled,” would be anything less than that? The newest installment showcased a lot of the same characters including Thor Drake of SeeSee motorcycles jumping Hurst Racing’s classic Rat Rod to a number of shots that evoke a feeling of ‘wishing I was there.’ Amongst the gallery walls of amazing work, there were a number of just as impressive bikes donated for the event. We managed to put our PBR down long enough to snap some photos of the night. Enjoy…

2012 Iron & Resin Hooligan Derby

33rd Annual SoCal Norton Club Dam Ride

I don’t usually go on large group rides but ever so often I can’t help myself. This year’s 33rd annual all brit Norton ride turned out to be quite a day. 95 or so odd miles through steep and windy California mountain side on an old Triumph is definitely a great way to spend a Sunday. I quickly grouped up with some friends of the Brit Iron Rebels and broke off the pack of about 200 into about 20. The ’69 T100c handled the corners beautifully although feeling the carburator cough a couple times coming out of a quick hanger was something I’d rather not deal with. Not many shots of the ride itself as I was just too damn interested in myself but enjoy a couple shots from the meetup.

Not So Brit.. But ever so awesome
